Maryland Plastic Surgeon: Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery

Education

Education is a core value of the Johns Hopkins Center for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. We strive to provide the best possible education to patients, physicians, and the public, and this commitment is reflected in the activities of our faculty. It is felt to be our obligation, and takes several forms.

Public Seminars

This includes public education through seminars and the web. At these programs we provide information you can trust about the myriad of available treatment options.

Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship ProgramFellowship Application

Dr. Byrne directs the highly competitive Fellowship Program in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Johns Hopkins Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. This program is accredited by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. It is also approved by the Johns Hopkins Graduate Medical Education Committee. Each year, one surgeon in the country is chosen to train here in the latest, most advanced techniques of facial surgery.

National and International Conferences

Drs. Boahene and Byrne are each very involved in national and international specialty meetings. They have lectured around the world, teaching other surgeons about the latest techniques in aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery. Training of Residents

As a world class teaching institution, our department attracts the very brightest of students, including some of the most talented and creative minds in medicine today. You might meet one or more residents or students in training during your visit with us. This contributes to a vibrant, stimulating atmosphere. We remain very aware of the importance of privacy, however, and our patients know that in every case, the faculty surgeon is responsible for the performance of the procedure. No trainee need be involved in any aspect of the consultation. The wishes of the patient always come first.

International Observership Program in Facial Plastic, Reconstructive, and Cosmetic Surgery

We welcome visitors from around the world for formal observerships, coordinated through Johns Hopkins International. These intensive, personalized programs typically last for one to two weeks.
